Glossary of Terms
1. 2K, 4K, 8K, 16K
These terms refer to the resolution of an image or video, which describes the number of pixels (points) in the image. Higher resolution allows for more detail to be displayed.

2K (2048 x 1080):
A standard resolution for digital cinema, where the image width is approximately 2000 pixels. It is commonly used in professional cinematography projects. -
4K (3840 x 2160):
Known as Ultra HD (UHD), 4K has about four times the pixels of Full HD (1920 x 1080). It is popular for televisions, monitors, and video content due to its high level of detail. -
8K (7680 x 4320):
8K has four times the pixels of 4K, providing extremely detailed images. It is primarily intended for professional applications such as cinematography, scientific visualizations, and virtual reality. -
16K (15360 x 8640):
An exceptionally high resolution designed for specific applications such as large-scale displays, research, or specialized visualizations. The pixel count is so high that it requires extremely powerful hardware for processing.
2. Render
The term "render" is commonly used in computer graphics and refers to the process of converting a 3D model or scene into a final image or animation.
Rendering Process:
- Input: 3D models, textures, lighting, camera settings, and other configurations.
- Output: A final 2D image or video.
Types of Rendering:

Real-time Rendering:
Used in games and interactive applications where speed is crucial. Images are created in real time (within milliseconds). -
Offline Rendering:
Used for cinematic films, visual effects, and high-quality 3D visualizations. This process can take hours or even days to produce a single image.
Factors Influencing Rendering:
- Resolution: For example, 4K or 8K.
- Scene Complexity: Number of polygons, lighting, etc.
- Quality of Textures and Materials: High-quality assets increase rendering time.
- Rendering Engine: Examples include V-Ray, Blender Cycles, and Unreal Engine.
